Summer Intern

About the Role
As an intern at Southern Civil, you will be a part of a fast-paced, self-performing, and dynamic company that competes in the municipal water and wastewater construction industry. You will have the opportunity to be involved in higher levels of the rapidly growing industry that is the backbone of every community.
Position Overview
During the 10 weeks at Southern Civil, you will have the opportunity to experience infrastructure contracting and the impact that it has on the community through gaining real-world exposure. This role will develop your understanding of how a project moves from concept to completion. You will work alongside our project management, estimating, and field teams on active municipal wastewater projects, supporting tasks such as reviewing plans and specifications, tracking submittals and schedules, assisting with quantity takeoffs and cost estimates, and documenting daily progress. You will also spend time on the jobsite, observing construction activities, walking the work with our superintendents and crews, and seeing firsthand how what is drawn on paper gets built in the ground.
Required
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
- Rising junior or senior with an anticipated graduation date of 2028
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Willingness to work on active construction sites and follow all safety requirements
Preferred
- Familiarity with CAD and/or MS Project
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- OSHA 10-hour certification or willingness to obtain

Construction Laborer
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Job description:
We are seeking dedicated and hardworking Construction Laborers to join our team. In this role, you will assist in various construction tasks, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will be reliable, and willing to learn on the job while contributing to a collaborative work environment.
Duties
- Assist with the preparation of job sites by clearing debris and setting up necessary equipment.
- Load and unload materials and tools as required for construction projects.
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools under the supervision of skilled tradespeople.
- Follow safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, digging, and carrying materials as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to complete tasks according to project timelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work site throughout the duration of the project.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices on the job site.
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards learning new skills.
- Must be able to follow instructions accurately and work under supervision effectively.

Project Manager
Southern Civil, LLC has an available position for an experienced Construction Project Manager in the Industrial/Municipal Water and Wastewater Industry. An individual with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Construction Management with experience in designing and/or managing Water/Wastewater projects is preferred.
Job Duties Consist Of:
- Creation Project Estimates (Saga Timberline experience preferred)
- Project Material Procurement (Creating and Issuing Purchase Orders)
- Procurement of Subcontractors
- Facilitate Project Submittal Requirements
- Create and Maintain Project Schedules
- Development of Pipe/Equipment/Structural Drawings (AutoCAD experience preferred)
- Create and Manage Project Pay Request
- Manage Project Activities with the On-Site Project Superintendent
- Conduct/Attend Project Meetings with Project Owners and Engineers
