This project consists of the demolition and replacement of 4 Effluent Vertical Turbine Pumps, the demolition of the current effluent pump station building and the construction of a new effluent pump station building, including the mechanical piping and building control equipment.

The scope of work for the project included replacement of equipment for two 35-foot diameter clarifiers including demolition, removal and proper disposal of existing clarifier equipment and sludge removal. The scope of work for the project included: grading and paving a new on-site road with 1200 SY of granite roadway base and 264 tons of asphalt paving, drainage improvements, installation of new conduit with fiber optics and power cables, modifications to an existing blower building, installing valves, flow meters and stainless steel air pipe, fittings and expansion joints, relocating removal of digester equipment and installation of sequencing batch reactor equipment in an existing concrete basin, construction of 58’ diameter prestressed concrete basin and installation of all necessary piping and digester equipment, modifications to existing belt press building, and replacing existing grit and odor control systems.

Southern Civil was part of a design build team to provide extensive upgrades to the North and East Wastewater Treatment Plants, both of which serve the City of Lyons. Our scope of work for each plant included: a new influent pump station and screening structure, installation of screen structure mechanical items; the installation of new blowers for the aeration system; new gear boxes for the clarifiers; dewatering and cleaning the existing package plant; inspection and repair of plant aeration equipment; sand blasting and paint of all ferrous metal in package plant.

The scope of work for the project: a concrete basin approximately 30’ long, 8’ wide and 20.5’ deep with removable aluminum grates; connecting the concrete basin to an existing influent channel and manhole; installing a slide gate into the concrete channel; installing a 30” gate valve to the existing 30” DIP influent pipe; installing a Huber TrashMax bar screen; removing and replacing 55 square yards of concrete; removing and replacing chain-link fencing.

The scope of work for this project included demolition and removal of existing piping and appurtenant structures for two existing clarifiers; addition of a new secondary clarifier; construction of new piping and appurtenant structures for the new and existing clarifiers; demolition and removal of existing outfall section; addition of new outfall piping and appurtenant structures; construction of new miscellaneous pipe connections to new parts of the work; demolition, removal, and replacement of surface site features around construction areas; addition of a new sludge flow measurement system; addition of a new SCADA system. The work was completed while keeping the facility in full operation.
